Install Motion on Windows with the PowerShell installer.
Native (PowerShell)
powershell -c "& ([scriptblock]::Create((irm https://motionis.xyz/connect.ps1))) -Token <connect-token>"This downloads the Windows x64 bundle (.exe daemon + Node + Caddy + the web
IDE) and starts it natively — no Docker required.
Expose a specific drive or folder with -Root:
... -Token <token> -Root C:\Docker
If you run Docker Desktop (WSL2 backend), you can use the container instead. In a WSL2 shell:
curl -fsSL https://motionis.xyz/connect.sh | sh -s -- <connect-token>Or run the equivalent docker run directly in PowerShell.
Windows native support is newer than Linux/macOS. If a control command or the
terminal misbehaves, please report it — and --root / doesn't apply on Windows
(use -Root C:\ or a folder path).
Controlling it
The Windows install reads its config from %USERPROFILE%\.motion\motion.env.
To stop everything:
Get-Process motion-daemon,caddy -ErrorAction SilentlyContinue | Stop-Process -Force
