macOS
Run Motion on a Mac with Docker or a native install.
macOS uses the same shell installer as Linux — it detects Darwin and pulls the macOS bundle.
Native
curl -fsSL https://motionis.xyz/connect.sh | sh -s -- --host <connect-token>Brings its own daemon (Apple Silicon arm64 or Intel x64), Node, and Caddy —
no Docker, no Homebrew needed. Installs the motion CLI.
Docker
curl -fsSL https://motionis.xyz/connect.sh | sh -s -- <connect-token>Runs the Linux workspace container via Docker Desktop.
In Docker mode the terminal/files are the Linux container's, not your native macOS shell. For real Mac paths + your shell, prefer the native install.
Browsing your files
- Native defaults to your home dir; use
--root /for the whole disk, or--root /pathfor a folder. See What the IDE can see. - Docker can only mount folders Docker Desktop is allowed to share — point
--rootat a project folder (not/).
