Quickstart
Connect a machine to Motion in one command and open its IDE.
Connect any machine — a cloud VM, your homelab, or a laptop — as a self-hosted workspace in a couple of minutes.
Create a self-hosted workspace
In your dashboard → Workspaces → Create → Self-hosted. You'll get
a one-time connect command with a token (wct_…). You can re-open it any
time from the workspace's connect button.
Run it on your machine
Build your exact command — paste your token, pick your OS and options:
curl -fsSL https://motionis.xyz/connect.sh | sh -s -- --host <connect-token>Get your token from the dashboard → Workspaces → Create → Self-hosted.
Or copy the platform-specific form below:
curl -fsSL https://motionis.xyz/connect.sh | sh -s -- <connect-token>This runs the workspace in Docker (isolated). To run it natively on the
host instead, add --host:
curl -fsSL https://motionis.xyz/connect.sh | sh -s -- --host <connect-token>powershell -c "& ([scriptblock]::Create((irm https://motionis.xyz/connect.ps1))) -Token <connect-token>"Windows runs natively (no Docker). Requires PowerShell.
Docker mode needs Docker installed/running. Native mode needs nothing pre-installed — the installer brings its own runtime. See Self-hosting for which to choose.
Watch it come online
The connect screen flips to Connected within a few seconds, and the workspace shows a green online dot in the list. (The dashboard polls live — no refresh needed.)
Open it
Click Open IDE, Terminal, or Files on the workspace row. Everything runs over the tunnel: the editor, the terminal (a real shell on your box), file browsing, and live CPU/RAM metrics.
